"I have decided to retire from the One-Day format of the game. I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team. The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest. I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well-wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years," he said.

Words will not suffice to admire his extraordinary batting skills which have earned him laurels from all quarters. Apart from his superlative batsmanship he has been a great sportsman not once involved any controversy. He will be honoured forever befitting his illustrious career and humble batsmanship. A glorious era has ended. The invincible records he has amassed during his 23 years (1989-2012) era are a treasure for Indian cricket, would always be an inspiration for every young aspirant. He also played a major role in alleviating the game as a whole. 

All true Indian cricket fans will miss Sachin in ODI for sure. I have seen some rather distasteful posts about the great man's retirement which is really hurting. He might be wrong in his timing of retirement but that should take nothing away from the legendary cricketer the world has ever witnessed. Tendulkar retired after amassing 18,426 runs in 463 one-days at an average of 44.83 with 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries in the ODI, including a double hundred the first in this form of the game.

Gratitude and tributes started acknowledging the legend after he announced his retirement from ODIs today just before the selection of the Indian squad for the upcoming Pakistan ODIs. 

Thank you Sir for the wonderful knocks and entertainment that you provided us over the decades. We will miss you, the cheer and enthusiasm that you bought into the team and the game.

"As long as there is a reason to wake up with a reason in the morning, it makes sense in continuing (playing cricket). The day I don`t enjoy wielding bat in my hands, I will think otherwise. But that moment hasn`t come as yet. When I will get that feeling, I will confirm on that," says Sachin Tendulkar when hit with queries regard to his retirement.

It has been 21 years since Sachin Tendulkar stepped in to the International Cricket. Sachin has been breaking cricket records ever since his debut, and will surely break more records in the time to come if given chance to. A hundred international hundreds, first double-ton in one-day international and this list goes too long to mention the legendary records he grabbed over the past 21 years of his career.

Lately, Sachin is being criticized in regard to his retirement as he’s unable to perform at par in comparision with his previous stats. Even at the twilight of his career, with the last long rays of his former blaze casting but a mere dip in his fantastic career, he continues to dominate discussions. In the debates that followed India’s embarrassing loss in the recent test, a few former players suggested that Tendulkar should resign. For most, the argument was that Sachin is a legend and he can decide better than anyone of us can.  Looking at the stats in the past two years he seems to lose his touch but still he is delivering to the needs and major role in converting matches to victories many a times. Also he has the highest rate of converting matches to victories than any other cricket legend in their careers’. In a way, hostile as the cricketing world has been to the recent performance of the Indian team a lot of the criticism has been diverted and absorbed by that ageing giant pointing at him, asking him to retire at the cost of his prestige. But we are no one to point out asking him not to live his passion. Fans in huge numbers started criticizing him forgetting the occasions he has carried the aspirations of the Nation on his shoulders and provided to celebrate the victories.

For those who term his as selfish and playing for records here is the truth why you call him so:

If he crosses the 100 line and the team loses we say India loses when he scores a ton. If he’s stopped at 90’s we say its nervous ninety. If he’s out at 50-70 that isn’t any a notable contribution to the team. Inspite of forgetting the invariable his contribution to the team in 2003 and 2011 world cup we term him selfish as he holds huge number of records. For those who criticize him as selfish, wake up and digest the fact that he is the most prolific runmaker of all time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon the game has ever known. Fans after terming him as god of cricket expect a heavenly superstitious performance to be in form scoring tons throughout. Hence his dip in recent past drove a lot of criticizing comments. But we all know that Sachin is no less than the legend of cricket.

Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he has had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred in each innings as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, in the recent times, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshiped cricketer in the world. Blessed with the keenest of cricket minds, and armed with a loathing for losing, Tendulkar set about doing what it took to become one of the best batsmen in the world.

Allahrakka Rahman popularly known as A R Rahman is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician, multi-instrumentalist and philanthropist. Rahman is renowned for redefining the in vogue style of music by reconciling various electronic music media and sounds thus leading to a voguish style in most of his compositions. 

Rahman was passionate about music since a very young age and after assisting some leading musicians in India went on to compose jingles and scores for popular Indian television features. His conspicuous career started sprouting since the early 90s with remarkable music in Roja and Bombay movies. His unbroken and unfaltered compositions in various Indian films and international cinema, Rahman is now one of the world's all-time top selling recording artists. In his momentous spanning career of 22 years Rahman amassed particular honour for redefining contemporary Indian film music and thus contributing to the success of several films. Through his majestic regal works in this field he is currently the highest paid musician cum composer in Indian Film Industry.

Apart from his glorious domestic (Indian) works Rahman gained global prominence and esteemed applause for ‘slumdog millionaire’ who won 2 academy awards for himself for best score and song. Rahman won numerous awards pertaining to his composition, score and songs - two Academy Award, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South in addition to numerous other awards and nominations. In 2009, Time placed Rahman in its list of World's Most Influential People.

Rahman has been and is an inspiration for every young new talent in the field of music. With so much of stardom and attention after the Golden Globe and OSCARS, Rahman could have got carried away with the success; however he always chose work over publicity. Such great personalities are and will be honoured for making a remarkable history and have been a boon for India.

The Gandhi of 21st century - Anna Hazare

 Anna Hazare’s hunger strike against corruption in April 2011 attracted divergent communities and classes from within the Indian middle class reminding their role and involvement in political engagement and attempts to punish the large-scale corruptionists. This 74 year old man, greatly acknowledged for his contribution to the development of Ralegan Siddhi raised his voice against the congress led central government (UPA), moved an entire nation to register strong protest against corruption.

 While the government was drowning in a flood of corruption scandals - notably, the 2G spectrum allocation controversy and the Commonwealth Games scam, Anna Hazare’s perfectly timed protest managed to ride the wave. His struggle in the lokpal agitation has brought several powerful and influential people to task. Anna Hazare is playing a very important role in cleaning up the corruption in Indian polity.

Although we’ve seen many revolutions this revolution if successful would transform our nation and the world shall bow before our power and people, yet again. Corruption being the major obstacle hindering the nation’s development Anna Hazare along with Prashant Bhusan, Shanti Bhushan, Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and Santosh Hedge and other social reformers picked up the broom to clean away this mess by implementing the jan-lokpal bill. He has challenged the government at the highest level to achieve a corruption free state. People, the common man and well-known personalities alike, are supporting him in the hundreds swelling to the thousands which would undoubtedly hulk in the near future.

The enormous participation of youngsters in anti-corruption movement led by Team Anna who represents the peoples’ voice reminds us with the potential and power of aam aadmi. In certain Districts in Karnataka the movement is supported by several student wings. Anna, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan recipient led movements to promote rural development, increase government transparency, and investigate and punish official corruption which in case achieved can witness a full established welfare state.

Anna Hazare is hence regarded as "The Gandhi of 21st century".
